This is so-called 'World class university', uh?

Anonymous said...

world class it is!

We in Malaysia are oblivious about anything. See the toll hikes, everyone was heated about why it should be done? Yet now we accept it. We shall forget about all this soon.

so what?

I’m sick of these world class records that the U's been holding. It’s so stupid.

as for the kebab, did they thought what they would do with it? A friend came by to my house bringing 3 plastic bags full of kebab. He had to go from houses to houses and give them away.

So was the dodol.

If that club was really trying to do something memorable, they should've at least invited some orphanages and offer the food to them.

Ada otak, tak reti nak guna. Susah la macam ni

Honestly, they way I see it is that if you would want to blame anybody here, it'd be both the officials and also the students.

The officials for handing out the moneys in order to go ahead with the student's stupid ideas.

I can clearly see the message that you're trying to forward, but instead of just dogging and looking down on your very own 'Student Affairs and Sports Divsion' whom are responsible for alot of other important things which really need to be handled nicely and also need attention; Hostels Rooms and Bathrooms? Food courts? library SEATS?

On the other hand, please do try to understand and look at this, if STAD is doing all of this for the students 'needs', and you want them to 'stop' or 'cut' down, then I'd just like to tell everyone to watch the message that you might to try to send, because there's and old saying that goes...

'Be careful to what you wish for...because it might just come true.'

No more Sports tournments; No gala events; No trips. NOTHING. (+ no more telephone in ANYbody's office too, hehe I'm just kidding there)

So, please let's just be sensible people and try to handle this maturely, because the last thing I'd want to see is someone sticking banners and throwing fliers saying; "STOP FREE SPEECH AND BLOGGERS".

Cheers.

thats our money... from the fees payment n should't waste the kebab and the dodol...

...and sorry for the double posting.

Anonymous said...

put the money for better use. take a look at lecture halls (XR1001-1005) in cyber. how many chair are without table??

Anonymous said...

The money for the kebab was fully sponsored by a middle eastern restaurant. MMU never gave such a load.

Anonymous said...

its kinda unfair to critic the u when u yourself doesnt provide a name, right? ahh the freedom of speech of bloggers these days. y dont u write an letter and send directly to the officials? the way i see it now, its just like "baling batu sembunyi tangan". setting the records are pretty much useless, and the way u express the uselessness is just useless too. write a petition, ill surely support u.

i was thinking where all the kebab gone to.. if they want to break record without using our money thats ok.. or if they used food, the food are distributed to people that needs it... but if used the money for stuff which is temporary... thats quite unfair for students rite? *want to use our own grand hall have to pay, then whats the purpose being an mmu student who cant use the hall as an mmu student??

Hey... longest so wat? It could be the lousiest dodol or kebab in the world for one thing ... they may as well put this in their records.

Remind me all the quantity of everything we are producing .. without even think of quality !! :(

hey, let's be fair here .. please don't expect them to give those dodol or kebab to orphanage .. they are not cruel people..so they don't want to give something that is not eatable !!!

Students is one thing ... but why those university management people like the President etc are so proud about these stupid thing...? unless of course they so used to doing stupid thing.... :(

Everyone in the CCIP hicomm gave me weird accusing looks when I laughed my ass off after they announced the plan to have the longest dodol cooking session.

I laughed again when I heard about the kebab [by then I was not in the hicomm anymore]. The thing about breaking records is that it has become quite a craze in MMU. Though I must say that it's not really that the students are THAT keen in breaking records in the first place. It's just that some clubs, in an effort to survive [or to simply stand out as a 'significant' club] they come up with these so-called record-breaking attempts.

I'll openly admit that I, too, have suggested a record-breaking art event for my club, and the original intention was't really to break [or create] a record. It all started out as the club wanting to do something fun and artsy on a large scale, and the idea of making a 'record breaking' attempt came naturally because we know MMU is always more than willing to approve and fund these kinds of events.

I believe the same can be said about events planned by other clubs as well.

But really, if it's getting angry about 'buying a place in the record book' the same can be said about the tallest buildings or the fastest train. Of course, I understand the bigger point being that the records that MMU students have 'achieved' so far have only wasted money.

Yes, the kebab record was a BIG waste of money, but that doesn't mean you should discourage ALL record attempts. If its a physical activity or art event, I see no harm. Perhaps what can REALLY be done is to discourage FOOD related records. Because we all know when it comes to HUGE amounts of food, there is going to be a lot of waste.

STAD might as well make certain prerequisites the next time a record attempt proposal comes up. Future record attempts must:
1. Promote an intelligence level higher than that of a garden snail.
2. Build character and good attributes [teamwork, creativity, determination, etc.]
3. Create logical and beneficial significance [academically or culturally]

And perhaps the most important of all criterias;

4. Must be a contribution to either the general public or a benefit to a charity organization.

The rest of you cowardly anonymous people, I suggest that you keep your dirty little fingers to yourself unless you can type something worth reading instead of something as inane and mentally decrepifying as "So, what?"

The cost of putting you into college including tuition fees, accomodation, food, etc:

RM50,000+

That's more than RM24000, so I guess if you quit college now, you'll be helping other poor, underprivileged people much more than students quitting the Dodol record.

Billions of people around the world, including babies, orphans and midgets, are suffering from malnutrition, and RM50000 would do much to ease their suffering. But instead you're still sitting at college in your comfortable little seat in front of your RM3000 Pentium D computer wasting time and your parents' money writing blogs that nobody cares.

Obviously democracy has failed us all.

P/S: Please try to at least write your posts in standard English. I'm a retard with an IQ of 10, and even I have a better command of grammar than you.

I think the record breaking events can be described as POINTLESS!!. especially the congkak one. wat a shameful way to display a beautiful game...

Why nobody want to break the smallest record? It need little cost and energy (man power) and can settle it easily (you can finished in one bite).

RM 24 000 ++ for a 2 minutes advertisement in mass media or ...

Rm24 000 for the breaking the record + can get a headline in newspaper + television + online news + record in Malaysia book of records + and you can eat it ?

Which one will you go for if you want to advertise something to public?

Anonymous said...

so you think that getting a headline in newspaper or getting a place in the record are worth than helping those in need?
For those who compare the RM50000 on tuition fees, accomodation and food with the RM24000 on a place in the record,do you mean both the amount more worth the same? you are comparing fees on 2 of the human basic needs (which is accomodation and food),and needs on acquiring knowledge, with the fees on getting a place in record. can you see the differences now? and now do you think you are making the right comparison?
p/s: reply this comment or criticise me because of what i have said, not because of my grammar mistake. i will assuming you are pointless and got nth to say but just critise others grammar(for fun)!

english pls ? hey , this is not a proper English awareness campaign ! What matters is ppl understand what they want to say , or u r saying that oni ppl with good english could write in the blog ? grow up dude !

kinda sad to think , those ppl who wants to 'jaga nama ' randomly critic this blog !!! - its kinda obvious rite ...

U see they are not discouraging record attempts , but this kind of record attempts just a waste of money and time ! there's no benefits ppl gain from this event besides those who are in the committee ( they learn how to organize longest kebab record ) and this dont worth rm24k !!!!!

Sexysex McSexington are insanely stupid ? rm50 k we spend for our studies incomparable to the knowledge we gain in mmu !!!! , What u gain from spending on a lame long kebab , world record and its for ... make ur parents proud ?

noxx .. why dont the src and the officials held and open q and a session for mmu students in main hall for better clarification !!!
