Largest Chess Tournament participated by MMU Melaka Chess Club

Everyone is getting frenzy about breaking records but... We beg to differ!

We are posing an open interpellation to the organizers of
similar events
to answer questions below:

1. Is making Dodol and Kebab an effective way of promoting racial integration and understanding among different cultures, as what have been the main objectives of CCIP?

2. Is there other non-foppish way to achieve your activities objectives?

3. How does this different from buying a place in the record books?

4. Does making something longest (in length or in time) make it the best? Does quantity equal QUALITY?

5. Do the records make our university (as well as country) more competitive in facing global challenge?

6. By the end of the events, what are the benefits you bring to yourself, the society, our country and the humankind?

Most are absolutely rediculous unfortunately. Why not like, the longest kebab, then given out to feed hundreds of hungry people. Or largest collection of tin cans for recycling? Or something to create safety precaution awareness... I wonder whos ideas are those. They probably need to grow up a little.

puppetInDaHaus, I do agree that some of the records is quit stupid and useless, especially those like longest kebab, or non stop dodol making. but please dun get confuse by those sport records to those non-sport records. people need to train hard to achieve the sport records. do you know how is the relay punching record been made, i bet you dun even ever try to punch a sand bag. so keep the f*ck up while u just sitting in front of computer or sleeping while others doing their training it.

Honestly, they way I see it is that if you would want to blame anybody here, it'd be both the officials and also the students.

The officials for handing out the moneys in order to go ahead with the student's stupid ideas.

I can clearly see the message that you're trying to forward, but instead of just dogging and looking down on your very own 'Student Affairs and Sports Divsion' whom are responsible for alot of other important things which really need to be handled nicely and also need attention; Hostels Rooms and Bathrooms? Food courts? library SEATS?

On the other hand, please do try to understand and look at this, if STAD is doing all of this for the students 'needs', and you want them to 'stop' or 'cut' down, then I'd just like to tell everyone to watch the message that you might to try to send, because there's and old saying that goes...

'Be careful to what you wish for...because it might just come true.'

No more Sports tournments; No gala events; No trips. NOTHING. (+ no more telephone in ANYbody's office too, hehe I'm just kidding there)

So, please let's just be sensible people and try to handle this maturely, because the last thing I'd want to see is someone sticking banners and throwing fliers saying; "STOP FREE SPEECH AND BLOGGERS".

Cheers.

Looks like in chasing the Malaysian Dream(which is based on the AMERICAN DREAM model), we are actually going in reverse gear. We have forgotten our principle values of unity, freedoms, love, peace and justice and end up chasing superficial goals and dreams.

Its time to open up spaces for open and sincere dialogue. I remember a most frustrating incident back in 2004 when the SRC and the MMU management called students to dialogue with them about critical issues. Only 15 to 20 students turned up and it was very hard to lobby for issues. I pray this situation is not repeating. I hope students realize the role of their education which is not to merely get good jobs and make big bucks but to know the TRUTH. What is the TRUTH, THAT WE MUST ENTER INTO DIALOGE.

Its been 50 years since we obtained our independence but in most areas, we are still in square one. Forget the world’s tallest building or going into space when the people don’t have their fundamental right. These mega structures and false dreams cloaked in massive corruption has given the world a wrong impression of the realities of Malaysia. STUDENTS...U CAN EITHER MAKE MALAYSIA OR BREAK IT. And I don’t mean through the SRC. Where they have failed, we must use our creativity to find ALTERNATIVES.The is always HOPE. Deep down inside, I strongly believe, Malaysia Boleh, and hence,my struggle. But not Boleh in a meaningless and BODOH way of course. Do get in touch with me if you want to know how to make a difference.

These RECORDS are SYSTEMATICALLY used to distract us from issues that really matter. Dont ever think they are doing it mindlessly or for fun. They have very specific agendas. Its just like how the authorities use the media to distract us with utter nonsense everytime a specific agenda/incident pops up.I am sure many selected and "elite" people are going to the bank very happily after each record. They know that the products of the Malaysian education system love these kind of side dishes and apetizers.Keep up blogging and voicing out!!!!

the longest punching relay was organized by the kickboxing instructor for his own purpose. it wasn't that the kickboxing team was trying to get into m'sia book of record which is full of shits. they were just doing this favour for their instructor.stop bombing them if you knew nothin.

at like the posts before, 24k was from an iranian restaurant. You go find someone to sponsor for the toilets la. Maybe we can break the record for the best toilets in an university. LOL

for your information, the kickboxin team din spend a single cent from the student trust fund. if wat they're doin is so pointless, why are over 6 newspapers are covering their record even before the record is attempted and yet more media are coming over to MMU to interview the team now. are you trying to say that those media are nuts too?? come on, if u think the kickboxin team are doin stupid thing so be it, it's your personal problem. but pls dont insult others while u know nothing abt the story behind. yet again, if u think we're wasting our time, how abt u?? u're creating a lousy blog while u're not sure of a single thing! oh ya, abt the being mature part. u're so damn "mature" for creating this blog. the moral of the story, pls do some research before complaining. ps: sorry for the poor grammar.

1. Is making this blog an effective way to fulfill ur unsatisfied feeling and understanding why others do the record while u do nothing, as what have been the main objectives of your blog?

2. Is there other non-foppish way to achieve your main objectives about why others do their record?

3. How does this different from buying a writing material than produce ur own one with wrong information?

4. Does making something longest (in length of the blog) make it the best? Does quantity equal QUALITY?

5. Do the BLOG make our university (as well as country) more competitive in facing global challenge?

6. By the end of your FINAL YEAR/ YOUR LIFE, what are the benefits you bring to yourself, the society, our country and the humankind?

this blog is established to create awareness. not of wasting time and energy k!!!

and on a side note, it doesnt matter whether the kebab uses stad's money, coz breaking stupid records are still stupid no matter how much money they use. see the point? this blog creator is juz kind enough to remind all of u regarding the wastage, nth else!!

support record-frenzy deeply..yea...

if the kebab is donated to starving people out there it would be less meaningless.

I was one of the person involved in one of the rocord made by MMU, the largest one cent coins logo. This is meaningful for me because we gather 1-cent which normally ignored by most people, made a record, n donate the money for charity.

Making record is good if there’s proper planning before deciding on what record to make.

I'm sorry for your view towards the Kickboxing team that had set their records and for your idea that it is 'bad' or senseless (meaningless?).

FYI members of the team had not been asked for a single penny of payment to set/break the records and everything was done in team spirit. It is admirable of them to be able to go through this again and again (and keep coming up with new people AGAIN to break their previous records).

Now if this was meaningless, I don't think that the participation would have increased (through time) or as effort being put on such events would have proven that this was a mere waste of time.

It is a great record and I would like to personally congratulate them as a former instructor to the MMU students/team. I do hope that they would continue to strive on to achieve the unachievable and keep breaking their own personal records. If any of you are not satisfied with their performances, I have only one word for you...

BEAT THEM!

:-)
